I am a specialist in the history and theory of modern art, design and visual culture in central EuropeMy research interests include:

​

women's contributions to modern art, design, and photography

intersections between high and popular and folk art, especially in relation to textile production and material culture, illustrated magazines, cartoons, and caricature

minority representation in central European art and design

modern culture beyond the metropolis – rural spaces, perupheries & borderlands

socially engaged art 

 

I hold a PhD in the History of Art (Courtauld Institute of Art, 2018), an MPhil in Czech (University of Glasgow, 2017) and a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing (Open University, 2012).

​

I am a founding member of the Centre for Modern Art and Theory at Masaryk University, Brno, and an editorial board member of Art East Central and the Journal for Austrian-American History.
